The pistachios should also be unsalted. Pistachios do have slightly less fat than most other nuts. Pistachios have high-fat content and it can lead to stomach upset in your dogs.
Feeding dogs pistachios sometimes is not bad so your dog will be OK if they nibble one or two pistachios once in a while. When your dog eats the nut unshelled the shell might splinter in the dogs stomach and cause problems such as intestinal obstructions especially among the smaller pooches. Aspergillus mold causes pistachio poisoning which can be dangerous for dogs.

As such if you are going some pistachio treats to your dog ensure that you first remove the shells. Feeding a lot of them in large quantities especially along with other nuts can make the dog gain weight feel sick and have more serious problems. The canine system is not designed to process nuts and they ultimately cause gastrointestinal distress obesity and pancreatitis.
Almonds and pistachios should be avoided as much as possible even though there is no need to panic if your dog has a couple at rare occasions. Some might recommend pistachios without a shell. But as with most things we need to consider quality quantity and the way they are served.
